Bahrain National Museum

We took advantage of the beautiful day and went to the Bahrain National Museum. It is very unusual but it has been raining. Last night we actually had thunder and lightning. Bahrain's history is very unique regarding the land and its people over the past thousands of years. One of the most interesting in my opinion is the burial mounds. The mounds were built 2 - 4 thousand years old. Thousands have been destroyed to make way for new roads and houses. Bahrain is growing so fast that the locals seem to believe that eventually the mounds will become extinct.

Happy Birthday To Jeremy!

We celebrated Jeremy Birthday today because he has to go to work tomorrow. We had enchilldas, pinto beans, rice, pico de gallo. Aferwards we enjoyed a birthday cake! I believe Devin enjoyed it the most!!! I also want to wish Ann Luckman a Happy Birthday today and many more!

And on the 2nd Day Papaw didn' realize...

Villa: Grammie & Devin
Villa: Devin helping Papaw?

Jeremy giving Papaw & Devin instructions.

Cody showing us his dribbling skills!

Golden Tulip: Brunch

Awwh!!

Villa: Before church
he was going to have to work 6 hours to assembly Cody's Basketball goal! Devin of course, had to be in the middle of it all. The following morning we went to church and had brunch at the Golden Tulip. It was so good. It's a huge buffet you select you meats/seafood they grill it and bring it to your table. This place is very kid friendly TG because we were there for a couple of hours. One of Jeremy's coworkers is in the hospital getting treated for a blood clot in his lung. Please keep Keith and his family in your prayers!

Today's the day...

Papaw and Grammie arrive and we are so excited! We will pick them up from the airport around 7:30ish and have dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Casa Mexicana. Their food is very authentic and good. For the most part, I can find almost everything we need as far as food. However, I can't find corn tortillas. There is a store that sales flour tortillas but no corn. So the last time we had dinner at Casa Mexicana I asked them if they would sale me some corn tortillas. So for Jeremy's birthday dinner guess what we're having??? Enchiladas, pinto beans and pico de gallo. We have a bet on how long it's going to take Papaw & Grammie to adjust to the time. It took me 5 days and it took the boys 3 days. We are ready for them. I just need to go to the store to buy last minutes things and Devin needs to take his a.m. nap.

And to my surprise it sprinkled this morning....

Grillin and Chillin

We fire up the Grill Thursday night after Cody got finished with Soccer practice. Weather is still very pleasant in the evenings and getting up to the 80's during the day. Friday after church Cody a birthday party to go to with some friends of ours. Cody hit the pool and swam all day while Devin hung out with the Birthday girls. Which one do you think was the smartest of the two? They had a pinata there so Cody and some of the other boys had fun trying to bust it open. I know it is NCAA basketball time at home, Cody and I are excited because we found on CBS sports.com where we can log in and view games live so we plan on watching Tennessee versus Oklahoma State tonight so that will be fun.

Our Weekend

We're counting down the days until Papaw & Grammie arrive. We can't wait and are very excited. So over the weekend we went to buy patio furniture and a grill. I couldn't believe it when the Gentleman said "Oh, we will deliver it today"! To our surprise it was delivered that evening and assembled within an hour or so. Jeremy wasn't feeling very well but he had to break in the grill. He made some awesome hamburgers.

Can you believe it our sea shipment is in!!! Yeah! The moving company delivered it yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. It's amazing how efficient both the moving company/crew are. They had our shipment unloaded and assembled within a few hours. There were no damaged or missing items. Now the Boys can sleep in their own bedrooms. LOL!

I went to get my Bahrain drivers license. It was no big deal at all. I just had to show them my American drivers license, take eye examine and pay $26 bd. However, the lines are long. A friend of mine lived in Saudi for a few years. When she went to get her Bahrain dl she didn't realize that her Saudi drivers license had expired. So it was mandatory for her to take a 32 hr course and of course pay $8 bd/hr. She tried explaining to them that she has been driving for over 25 years. This is an easy way they make their money. Our Realtor was telling me that quite often they don't pass you the first time. This allows them to make you take additional classes. I'm counting my blessings.

Hangin out at the mall

There is so much to do at the malls here, they have the small amusement parks on the inside and Cody enjoys going to them on the weekend. He spent some time today hitting the rock climbing wall. What a workout. Devin stopped by the Hallmark store to see the little stuffed puppy dogs crawling around and barking. I think he thought they were real.

Church Service in the Desert

As we have said before, Church services fall on Friday here and this Friday our Church had service at a camp site in the desert. We started with service at 10:00 a.m., followed by lunch then a series of games leading up to a bonfire in the evening. Letti, Devin, and I could not make it until night (as you can tell by Devin taking his afternoon nap) but Cody made it all the way through until the fire at night. We left around 2:30 while Cody stayed with some of our other Chevron friends from Church. He had a blast. All in all there were about 250 people there for Church and activities afterwards. Devin was a good sport wearing his ball cap to protect him from the sun. He wears it tilted, much like I remember my grandad "Bitsie" wearing his all of the time. Must run in the family. Jeremy

Learning to crawl in a big way

The only time Devin likes his car seat is when he flips over and stands up in it. He is also getting quick with his crawl now. He moves fast and is even starting to get a little bit of Cody's "army man crawl" that he was so good at when he is young. Hold on, Devin will be taking off and walking before we know it.

Happy Birthday, Verna!

Hats off to Verna! Devin joined us as we celebrated Verna's 60th Birthday Bash! We all meet at Camelot for an awesome lunch. For her birthday, we all pitched in and bought her a charm with 60 perils. Verna & her husband Mike are from Kingwood. It's amazing how many people we have met that are from Kingwood, Tx. It's a small world after all...

Cody started his new six weeks of specials (basketball & guitar lessons) this week. On Sunday he has basketball lessons and Wednesday is guitar. He was so excited to learn that he was selected for guitar lessons. The instructor only allows 6 students per lesson. Jeremy can't wait until he gets his guitar from our sea shipment. It's been so long that I have forgotten exactly what we've shipped.

Devin thinks he is such a big boy. He loves standing. And as you can see Dad lets him ride on his stroller standing (uuuh!!)???? What happened to safety first? This week he had fruity pebbles and he loves the sound of the crunch. There are a couple of things I know I wouldn't be able to do without.....his little stroller and Ma's fanny pack. These two items are so handy! When I am cleaning and or cooking Devin is right next to me in his stroller. I never leave home without the fanny pack. That is my new purse. Thank you, Ma!
